Main Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with the Program Manager and program team to ensure strong linkages of projects in manual development
- Conduct training with program team on the usage of the developed manuals.
- Prepare educational material or training of trainers on KI Projects and reviewing training manuals developed in the past aligning to current models.
- Use project management tools and techniques to integrate them in KI programming.
- Build capacities to implement more inclusive and innovative initiatives on developing effective training manuals, job aids.
- Conduct training on facilitation skills and mentoring on using different methods.
Qualifications
- 3 to 8 years experience
- Qualification in International Development, Project Management or similar fields
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A track record in developing and executing successful training programs
- Good training and facilitation skills (physical and virtual)
- A strategic and creative mindset with innovative problem solving skills
- Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.
Description of the partner
Kwakha Indvodza (“Building a Man”) is Eswatini’s first male mentoring organization. KI specializes in community-led health and behavior change interventions with men and boys. Since 2012, their activities have been focused on KI’s 3 Pillars, namely: Male Health, Financial Independence and Social Responsibility.
Description the volunteer mandate
Manual development is a vital part of KI’s growth and position as a Southern Africa Region thought leader. The programs and curriculum development advisor will be responsible for the review and updating of various curriculum for training and learning programs for beneficiaries of KI projects. They will train and oversee the team that uses these training manuals and assess their effectiveness by observing their performance and the beneficiaries’ experiences. The curriculum developer will also co-create virtual training methods and opportunities dependent on the employee’s needs.
Eligibility criteria

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training from 6 – 13 December 2023 for January 2024 departure dates
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Pre-assignment online training.
