Main Responsibilities
- Identify in-country and external sources of funding and develop capacity for proposal writing.
- Monitor statistics on gender equality both in terms of programme outcomes and of beneficiaries of interventions and programme delivery in compliance with the NETRIGHT’s Gender Equality policy
- Work with national and international organizations in the formation of strategic partnerships and alliances to undertake fundraising through proposal development, organize joint education and advocacy programmes and address challenges adolescent/youth face in Ghana
- Support communications related to SGBV prevention, gender equality and women’s empowerment, and other gender equality and visibility needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in resource mobilization, proposal development, business development, partnership and donor management.
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in education, international relations, business administration, marketing, political science, or a related field is preferred.
- Enrolment in a graduate school programme or advanced degree a plus.
- Strong presentation, writing and negotiation skills, including the ability to elaborate partnership projects and grant proposals.
- Must possess an ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines, and work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize own work with limited supervision.
- Capacity to effectively interact with a multiplicity of stakeholders including senior leaders.
- Assisting the NETRIGHT team with ongoing partnership initiatives and resource mobilization strategy
- Undertake donor scanning including identifying promising partnerships and funding opportunities and compiling a database of private sector entities and philanthropies/foundations with focus on youth and Africa
- Generating leads and opening conversations with key contacts
- Representing the organization in meetings and events
- Jointly develop the proposals and presentations to enable partnership opportunities
- Following-up on conversations and processes
- Identifying best practices and incorporating new ideas for partnership building
- Develop a training and capacity building for the NETRIGHT staff and volunteers on partnerships, proposal writing and other organizational competencies
- Develop a generic advocacy document aimed at showcasing impact and results in support of gender equality
- Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health rights within a gender equality framework
- Ability and willingness to work in rural areas during field visits and willingness to work in a non-Canadian socio-cultural and professional settings
- Proficiency in standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.

NETRIGHT is network of individuals and CSOs working together to promote women’s rights in Ghana
Description the volunteer mandate
The volunteer will participate in feasibility studies conducted in the regions where NETRIGHT is implementing projects and assist in the collection of data on women’s rights issues existing in these regions. The volunteer will also support the team during NETRIGHT strategic period and will develop a three year-rolling plan with accompanying budget and resource mobilization plan. NETRIGHT, like many other NGOs/CSOs depends on donors to finance its core activities. The over dependence on donor support could have negative impact in the event of reduction in donor support. Consequently, a significant amount of resources including time would be devoted developing fundraising strategy for implementation.
Eligibility criteria

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Pre-assignment online training.
