Main Responsibilities

  • Review current organisational policies
  • Conduct a stakeholder’s consultation for sector alignment.
  • Presentation of draft policies to organisational management structures for adoption.
  • Current strategy ends in 2025.  Country sector assessment and stakeholder consultation meetings.
  • Development of follow on 5year strategic plan for the organisation
  • Presentation of draft strategic plan for adaptation and approval to the organisational structures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience organisational development
  • Ability to develop to develop policies using the participatory approach and stakeholder participation.
  • Knowledgeable of organisational software that will assist in the management and tracking of policies developed.
  • Excellent personal, organisational and time management skills.

Project description and context: 

Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas. 

The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence. 

Description of the partner

Bantwana Initiative Eswatini is in a transactional phase as it moved away from having an INGO as a subsidiary to be fully independent and thrive for its existence in challenging environment faced with donor fatigue.  As the organisation grows, there is a need for review of organisational policies and strategic plan to indicate the strategic direction for the organisation. Bantwana strategic plan is coming to an end in 2025 and support in the review, market scanning and development of the new strategy will be key for the organisation in 2025.

Eligibility criteria 

    •  Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada. 
    • Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement 
    • Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct 
    • In good physical and mental health (medical examination required) 
    • The volunteer needs to bring their own computer. 
    • The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training.

Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following: 

  • Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)  
  • Plane ticket and local transport 
  • Pre-assignment online training.
