Project description and context:
Crossroads International’s 2020-2027 Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) entitled Championing Gender Equality Together, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), will engage Canadian women and men, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions. Collectively these Gender Equality Champions constitute a global community of strong change agents and advocates for the advancement of gender equality both in Canada and overseas.
Project description and context:
Tanzanian Gender Networking Programme was formed in 1993 as an activist non-profit organization and in 2012, was registered as TGNP Mtandao Limited. The organization emerged through a collective process of critical reflection by leaders of key women’s and gender organizations about the situation of women who remain the most exploited and oppressed/. TGNP’s approach is centered on transformative feminism, with the goal to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and other marginalized groups, whether due to class, sex, gender, age, ethnicity, disability, geographical and national locations. The organization’s goal is to facilitate the transformative feminist movement that influence and contribute to gender responsiveness of policy formulation and implementation in the areas of agriculture, water, health, education and extractive industries for equitable resource allocations and sustainable livelihoods.
Mandate historical context:
TGNP is donor funded and the funding terrain has not been very smooth. There has been a lot of competition for funding from Southern non-governmental organizations, and International NGOs as well. There has also been shrinking funding from the North, and with COVID – 19 the situation may be worse. Exploring funding opportunities for various for programme activities is very important for the sustainability of the organisation. The main function of the Resource Mobilisation Advisor will be to support a sustainable mobilization of resources and diverse fundraising activities according to identified needs, to programming and vision of TGNP.
Main responsibilities:
- Scan donor landscapes for local, national, and international funding opportunities
- Create database of funders, funding opportunity tracking tool
- Writing proposals, engaging donors, whether individuals, or institutional
- Train local staff on best practices for resource development
Qualification criteria for selection include:
- Bachelor’s degree in: Development Studies, Economics, Project and Financial Management
- Minimum 3 years of experience with grant sourcing, proposal development and donor relations
- Experience or knowledge of development Agriculture
- Experience or knowledge of international development
- Knowledge of gender equality
Language:
English
Other skill set/knowledge:
- Strong ability to impart knowledge and skills on fundraising
- Ability to scan donor landscape, identify opportunities and risks
- Proven experience writing winning proposals
- Knowledge or experience in International development
- Strong experience in gender equality programming
Eligibility criteria:
- Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada CURRENTLY in the country of the mandate.
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer
