Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.
Description of the partner
Fair and Square works with MSMEs in the handmade, food and cosmetics sectors and they require capacitation on managing their brands, specifically content creation, marketing and storytelling. These skills would allow them to elevate their business and expand their reach as buyers love to know the brand’s story and this is achieved through appropriate content creation and storytelling.
We currently capacitate and mentor MSMEs on very basic marketing and story telling , however we do not possess the skills to capacitate MSMEs on in depth brand management, marketing and storytelling in order to elevate their business. There is a need for capacitation within Fair and Square as well in order to further capacitate future MSMEs we work with in brand management and story telling.
The MSMEs require guidance on how to appropriately market their brands not only through the well-known marketing methods but also incorporating innovative methods and how to tell their brand’s story even in a physical/virtual conversation/meeting. The MSMEs require strategies and methods on how to appropriately story tell and market their brands to potential customers and clients.
Description the volunteer mandate
The Brand Management and Marketing advisor will be working with the Operations Manager Jeanine Bello and Julie Nixon the program Director to virtually create educational material on brand management, marketing and story telling for MSMEs we work with, while mentoring and training them as well as Fair and Square staff on marketing, story telling and brand management. The Fair and Square team will learn immensely from this volunteer, especially in regard to marketing and story telling in order to capacitate MSMEs on the topics.
