Main Responsibilities
Assist local entrepreneurs ;
- In the co-creation of a compelling pitch decks that build capacity in storytelling, and understanding of investor expectations.
- Use tools like the Business Model Canvas and Value Proposition Canvas to clarify their business structure.
- Use coaching techniques to help entrepreneurs develop problem-solving skills, adaptability, and resilience.
- Conduct training on product management principles, lean startup methodologies, and minimum viable product (MVP) strategies.
- Co-create training manuals for iSpace Staff
Qualifications

- Completed studies in business development, Public Administration, commerce, or related fields administration or development
- 3 years working experience in resource mobilization, fundraising and/or business developement
- Professional or demonstrable experience in devising new ways of living and working sustainably.
- Experience working with not-for-profit organizations
- Analytical and information-seeking skills, effective and proven writing skills
- Oral fact-finding, presentation and communication skills
- Computer Skills: Microsoft applications and internet research
- Training experience
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.

Description the volunteer mandate
The Business Development Volunteer, with expertise in coaching startups and facilitating training workshops, plays a crucial role in engaging potential partners to support the growth of startups within our ecosystem. An essential aspect of this role is its commitment to gender inclusivity. By ensuring that both men and women have equal access to resources, guidance, and networking opportunities, this role helps break down barriers that often limit the participation of underrepresented genders in the startup ecosystem. Promoting gender diversity in business development initiatives fosters innovation, encourages a more holistic approach to problem-solving, and creates a more resilient and sustainable ecosystem where all entrepreneurs—regardless of gender—can thrive and scale their ventures. Additionally, engaging diverse partners from various gender backgrounds enriches the ecosystem, making it more inclusive and representative of society as a whole.
Eligibility criteria

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training.
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Pre-assignment online training.
