Main responsibilities
- Increase WfC grants from not-for-profit and for-profit funders by at least 30%
- Diversify funding sources from one current partner to at least three by end of the mandate
- Resource Mobilization
- Review of potential funding opportunities against WFCs current vision, mission and strategic priorities
- Participate in conceptualization and design of innovative projects regarding climate resilience, women’s leadership, sexual and GBV
- Identification of potential funding partners
- Provide advisory support to WFC management
- Organize engagement meetings with potential partners
- Development of MOUs with potential funders to forge partnerships
Qualification criteria for selection include:
- Undergraduate university degree (or equivalent)
- 2nd cycle university degree (or equivalent)
- Business Development, NGO management or any relevant social science
- Specialized vocational training
- Proposal and report writing skills, social media innovations
- Culturally sensitive and able to interact with high level executives
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.
Description of Partner
Women for Change is a gender focused NGO that works to build capacities of rural communities especially women and girls to achieve sustainable development. The organisation’s operations are supported by funds raised mostly through grants hence the need for organisation’s strengthened capacity in resource mobilisation from various potential funders both for profit and not for profit organisations/institutions.
Eligibility criteria:

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training.
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Monthly living allowance
- Medical insurance and vaccinations
- Pre-assignment training
