Main Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  •  Create, schedule, and post engaging content across various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn,
    YouTube ).
  •  Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions to foster community engagement.
  • Analyze social media metrics to adjust strategies for better reach and engagement.

Content Creation and Management:

  • Write and design blog posts, newsletters, and other digital content that align with the organization’s goals and target audience.
  • Optimize content for SEO to improve search engine rankings and drive organic traffic to the website.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure consistent and cohesive messaging across all digital channels.

Digital Campaigns and Analytics:

  • Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns (e.g., email marketing, online ads, influencer collaborations) to promote events,
    products, or services.
  • Track and analyze the performance of digital campaigns using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and email
    marketing software.
  • Provide regular reports on campaign performance and suggest improvements based on data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate/Masters University Degree (or equivalent) in IT, Communications, Public Relations
    Business Analytics and Management
  • Specialized Vocational Training e.g Certificate courses in Google Digital Marketing,
    Udemy Digital Marketing Course or online certificate courses are also acceptable.
  • At least 2 years experience in Digital Marketing
  • Social Media Proficiency: Knowledge of how to use major social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube etc.) and an understanding of best practices for each.
  • Writing skills for creating engaging blog posts, social media updates, and email newsletters.
  • Basic graphic design skills for creating visual content using tools like Photoshop, Canva are highly beneficial
  • SEO Knowledge: Understanding of search engine optimization techniques to enhance website content and improve search rankings.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to use tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and other metrics to track and analyze the performance of digital marketing campaigns.
  • Email Marketing: Familiarity with Canva as an email marketing platform and best practices for creating effective email campaigns.
  • Basic HTML/CSS (optional but beneficial): Some understanding of HTML/CSS can be helpful for making minor adjustments to website content and email templates.
  • Proactive and Self-Motivated: A willingness to take initiative and work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to think creatively and bring fresh ideas to the table for content and campaign strategies.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines for various digital marketing tasks and campaigns

Project description and context: 

Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas. 

The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence. 

Description the volunteer mandate

Since COVID-19, more people have moved to online events and activities, making it crucial to keep the iSpace online community engaged in new
and interesting way. iSpace Programs are always evolving, and it’s becoming more important for iSpace to share its work on social media in exciting
and trending ways while harnessing the social media platforms to advocate for diversity and inclusion.
With over 8,000 followers across all media channels, iSpace is having trouble keeping its online community which consists of women, young girls and
individuals from various communities across Ghana updated and involved with events, training, and advocacy content.
iSpace’s media officer will work closely with the volunteer to develop captivating posts, write blogs and share newsletters to engage its online community.

Eligibility criteria 

    •  Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada. 
    • Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement 
    • Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct 
    • In good physical and mental health (medical examination required) 
    • The volunteer needs to bring their own computer. 
    • The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training.

Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following: 

  • Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)  
  • Plane ticket and local transport 
  • Pre-assignment online training from 15 – 18 October 2024
