Main Responsibilities
- Development of a financial management strategy at organizational level
- Capacity building training on quickbooks
- Capacity building training on preparation of financial transactions
Qualifications
- Undergraduate University Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting and/or Finance
- 3 years working experience under financial management and accounting.
- Experience in developing and monitoring budgets for NGO projects
- Ability to use accounting package, QuickBooks is highly recommended
- Experienced in financial management of projects
- Demonstrate ability to be proactive, flexible and take initiative
- Demonstrate ability to interact with individuals of different cultures.
- Professional level English skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated interest in the fields of social impact making and gender equality
- Proficiency in standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Description of the partner
HakiZetu is dedicated to preventing gender-based violence through empowering economically special groups of women/girls and youth, to protect legal and human rights, promote health and wellbeing of girls, women, and youth and advocating for gender equality and equity through sensitization, and capacity building in Tanzania.
Description the volunteer mandate
The organization has a financial team and financial policies in place. However, with the help of a volunteer expert in the area of financial management we will be able to identify a system that can be used to manage finances and strengthen policies around fund management and engagement with donors. The organization is also looking for ways to diversify its income generation as they are currently completely donor dependent.
Eligibility criteria
- ***IMPORTANT: Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Medical insurance and vaccinations
- Pre-assignment online training.
