Main Responsibilities
- Co-develop a resource mobilization strategy
- Co-develop a sustainability plan
- Capacity building training on proposal writing and fundraising
- Capacity building training on the engagement of potential partners and individuals in private sector
Qualifications
- Undergraduate University Degree (or equivalent) in International Development, marketing, business development, project management etc.
- 3 years working experience
- Experienced in conducting successful resource mobilization and fundraising activities
- Willing to support Hakizetu to move to the next steps by having able to collaborate with a team to develop resource mobilization and fundraising plan
- Demonstrate ability to be proactive, flexible and take initiative
- Demonstrate ability to interact with individuals of different cultures.
- Professional level English skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated interest in the fields of social impact making and gender equality
- Proficiency in standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.
Description of the partner
HakiZetu is dedicated to preventing gender-based violence through empowering economically special groups of women/girls and youth, to protect legal and human rights, promote health and wellbeing of girls, women, and youth and advocating for gender equality and equity through sensitization, and capacity building in Tanzania.
Description the volunteer mandate
Hakizetu has a resource mobilization team. The team complies of the Executive Director, Accountant, Programs Manager, Project Manager and Monitoring, Evaluation, Assessment and Learning Manager. The team has experience in resource mobilization, but is looking to have a volunteer who will support to take them to the next level, building the necessary skills to successfully win grants that are of a larger scale. Haki Zetu is also interested in developing a sustainability plan and resource mobilization strategy.
Eligibility criteria

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Medical insurance and vaccinations
- Pre-assignment online training.
