Main Responsibilities
- Monitor Gender equality statistics regarding ; programme outcomes, beneficiaries of interventions and programme delivery in compliance with the Action Aid’s Gender Equality policy
- Provide training for local communities ensuring inclusivity of women in decision-making process and governance
- Develop suitable planning frameworks and construct a strategy roadmap that establishes strategic direction to for continuous implementation
- Oversee a range of operational support programs, as applicable.
- Support communications related to SGBV prevention, gender equality and women’s empowerment, and other gender equality and visibility needs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working on gender equality and human rights, especially in the area of gender equality is highly desirable.
- Bachelor/Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Developmental Studies, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in combination with requisite qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the master’s degree.
- Demonstrable experience working with multi-stakeholders, including governments, donors’ partners and civil society organizations
- Experience in designing gender equality materials for a range of audiences
- Experience in producing briefings, case studies, infographics and other products to facilitate communication of complex environmental issues to a variety of audiences
- Previous experience in leading policy advocacy
- Demonstrate ability to be proactive, flexible and take initiative
- Demonstrate ability to interact with individuals of different cultures.
- Demonstrated interest in the fields of social impact making and gender equality
- Proficiency in standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.

Action Aid is a global justice federation working to achieve social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication.
In Ghana, Action Aid supports the basic needs and rights of the poor, with an emphasis on human rights, women’s rights, land rights and the right to education.
Description the volunteer mandate
Action Aid Ghana is looking for a volunteer to contribute to the overall outcome of ‘Implementation of Gender Equality actions in Ghana that address key drivers of gender-based vulnerabilities and enhance human rights. Action Aid requires a volunteer with experience in gender equality and human rights skills to aid its work in the area and provide a dynamic edge to this unit of the organization
Eligibility criteria

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training.
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Pre-assignment online training.
