Main Responsibilities
• Implementation of policies or organizational measures on resource mobilisation strategies and action plan.
• Assisting in the design, implementation and coordination of comprehensive donor relations between SWAGAA and its funding partner.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of the resource mobilization strategic plan.
• Use of project management tools and techniques to integrate the Resource Mobilization Tracker.
• Knowledge sharing and capacity building in Resource Mobilization.
• Target good practices and lessons learned such as impact stories, well documented organizational policies, project implementation strategies, and participate in learning about resource mobilization.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate University Degree (or equivalent) in International Development, Nonprofit Management/Social work, Business Administration, Public relations, Economics, Finance, Project Management etc
- Experience in Resource Mobilization, Proposal Writing, Grant Management, Communications
- Ability to facilitate capacity building activities
- Strong interest in women’s rights issues;
- Effective organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills / ability to work in a multicultural and mixed environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
- Capacity to take initiatives and work autonomously
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.
Description of the partner
Swatini Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) is a non-governmental organization that has been working for over 30 years to end gender-based violence (GBV), sexual abuse and human trafficking in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). As the lead organization framing the agenda on GBV, SWAGAA partners with key stakeholders to provide technical expertise on best practices in GBV prevention and response. The organizations mission is empowering Eswatini to act against gender-based violence through prevention care and support and access to justice. In our existence we have ensured that Eswatini is free from GBV, and all human rights are respected. The organization’s values include professionalism, integrity and honesty, client orientation and respect for human rights and gender equality.
Description the volunteer mandate
The Resource mobilisation volunteer will support the organisation in implementing its resource mobilisation strategy to increase organisational funding and ensure sustainability. The volunteer will be expected to increase donor funding, local funding as well as assist in exploring other nonconventional means of resource mobilization.
Eligibility criteria

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training.
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Pre-assignment online training.
