Main Responsibilities
• Review current strategic plan and conduct stakeholder information/inputs.
• Develop resource mobilization plan and new strategy to increase financial autonomy.
• Staff proposal writing and fundraising training.
• Implementation of policies or organizational measures on best practice for donor funding.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of the finance strategy plan.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate/Masters University Degree (or equivalent) in International Development, Marketing, Business Management, Project Management etc
- Strategic Planning, Resource Mobilization, Grant Writing, Grant Management, Business Plan Writing, Project Management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Cultural sensitivity and respect for local values and norms.
- Willingness to learn from and share knowledge with others.
Project description and context:
Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.
The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.
Description of the partner
Bantwana Initiative (Bantwana) was founded and locally incorporated as a not-for-profit NGO in Eswatini in March 2008 (registration R7/29879). Bantwana’s mission is “to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable children and their caregivers, young people and families affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty”. Bantwana vision is envisaged of a world where all children are healthy, secure and can reach their full potential.
Bantwana’ s work advances the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini’s National Development Policy and its work is aligned to and guided by the country’s priorities and strategies including the UNAIDS global 90:90:90 targets and the Sustainable Development Goals. Bantwana delivers diverse and innovative portfolio of programs that, 1) strengthen the national level systems, and 2) test and scale-up comprehensive early childhood development (ECD), child protection, Gender Based Violence (GBV)/VAC, health promotion, HIV prevention, economic and social empowerment and education support activities targeting vulnerable children and young people and moving them towards reduced vulnerability, enhanced stability, and increased education, health and protection outcomes. Bantwana also serves special needs sub-populations inclusive children and young people living with disabilities, C/ALHIV and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW).
Description the volunteer mandate
The Resource Mobilization Advisor will increase Bantwana’ s financial autonomy through grant management. The volunteer will collaborate with Saul Chirume and Simangaliso Simelane.
Eligibility criteria

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training.
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
- Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)
- Plane ticket and local transport
- Pre-assignment online training.
