Main responsibilities
- Develop assets that support TUSONGE goal of self-sustenance.
- Increase organizational financial resources.
- Strengthen capacity of TUSONGE staff in resource mobilization and fundraising.
- Build capacity to implement more inclusive and innovative initiatives on resource mobilization and fundraising
- Identification of Public – Private partnerships for TUSONGE self sustenance.
- Support the development of a Business plan of TUSONGE Land and property for sustainability
Qualification criteria for selection include:
- A Degree in Development studies, Economics, Political Economy, or any other related field. Masters in any of the mentioned field will be of added advantage.
- 2 years of experience in resource mobilization, hands on work in: donor relations, fundraising, proposal writing, financial planning, grants development, communications, marketing – preferably in the field of international cooperation.
- Proven record of mobilizing resources for sustainable development
- 2 years experience in engaging donors at local and international levels
- Experienced in project management and organizational development
- Experience in writing material for partnerships/resource mobilization, including policies, project proposals and promotional material
- Experience in resource mobilization for a development organization

- Knowledge and experience of facilitation techniques and participatory approaches
- Knowledge and experience of programs in advancing women’s equality and economic autonomy.
- Demonstrated experience and/or training in international cooperation, preferably in a non-profit environmental at the local level is an asset.
- Excellent ability to work autonomously and willingness to take initiative.
- Capacity to work collaboratively with a team, in person and from a distance.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to support volunteers, including mentorship and counselling.
- Exceptional intercultural competencies and attitudes, including patience and respect for local expertise and work culture and intercultural communication.
- Ability to cope with cultural isolation and a different standard of living.
Description of Partner
TUSONGE Community Development Organization has been established since 2011 in the regions of Kilimanjaro and Arusha, Tanzania. TUSONGE envisions a society where people enjoy equal rights to sustainable livelihood, well-being, and play developmental roles as committed citizens.
Our mission is to enable marginalized women, men, youth and children to create prosperity, health, freedom and contribute to vibrant care economies. We are specialized in women economic empowerment, the inclusion of people living with disabilities, advocating for women in local leadership positions, sustainable and eco-friendly farming, and we utilize the Human Rights Based Approach.

Eligibility criteria:

- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement
- Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct
- In good physical and mental health (medical examination required)
- The volunteer needs to bring their own computer.
- The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training
Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following:
