Project description and context:

Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas.

The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence.

Description of the partner

Africa Community Technical Service (ACTS) is dedicated to partnering with last mile communities so they can enjoy the life giving benefits of clean water, sanitation and hygiene. However, ACTS face significant challenges in securing consistent and substantial funding to sustain the programs and expand reach. The primary issue is the lack of a robust, diversified fundraising strategy. ACTS relies heavily on Canadian Partner Organizations, which makes the financial health vulnerable to changes in donor priorities and economic fluctuations. This mandate seeks to address this critical issue by bringing in a Fundraising Advisor to develop and implement a comprehensive, sustainable fundraising strategy.

Description the volunteer mandate

  1. Diversification of Funding Sources. We need to reduce our dependency on the Foreign Partner by exploring and securing alternative funding streams, including grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and fundraising events.
  2. Capacity Building. Our team lacks advanced skills and knowledge in modern fundraising techniques, including digital fundraising, donor relationship management, and data-driven fundraising strategies.
  3. Economic and Political Uncertainty. Economic downturns and shifting political climates can impact donor behavior, necessitating a more resilient and adaptable fundraising approach.
