Main Responsibilities

  • Interview management and staff to understand ACFODE’s mandate, mission, vision, as well as program objectives and activities
  • Review annual reports, documents, and communication
  • Identify organizational objectives and activities
  • Review annual reports, documents, and communication
  • Identify organizational objectives and develop measures and indicators
  • Based on TOC and Logic Model, develop a set of guidelines and best practices for all M&E activities
  • Design data collection and analyses methodologies
  • Create M&E calendar for M&E activities
  • Review/modify/develop tools and templates for data collection and analysis
  • Review program activities and outcomes for past years
  • Review previous annual reports and donor reports
  • Review different donor mandates
  • Organize and highlight lessons learned that align with the TOC and donor mandates

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Information Science, M&E, Computer Science
  • Previous experience in digital research, monitoring, evaluation and learning
  • Minimum of entry level technical research skills i.e. has conducted research and written reports and presentations in the past
  • Previous experience in data visualization is considered an asset
  • Demonstrate ability to be proactive, flexible and take initiative
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with individuals of different cultures.
  • Professional level English skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated interest in the fields of social impact making and gender equality
  • Proficiency in standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Project description and context: 

Crossroads International will engage Canadians, Canadian stakeholders, Crossroads staff and volunteers, local partner organizations and women and men in sub-Saharan Africa to become Gender Equality Champions both in Canada and overseas. 

The Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) aims to reduce gender inequalities and alleviate poverty by addressing gender-based violence, inequalities in access to resources and economic opportunities, and barriers in exercising strategic forms of choice, voice, and influence. 

Description of the partner

ACFODE is a national women’s organisation whose vision is a just society where gender equality is a reality and with a mission to empower women and girls and to influence policies and legislation for gender equality in Uganda. For the last three decades since inception, ACFODE has been advocating for gender equality though a number of interventions including challenging social and gender norms that perpetuate gender inequalities including GBV, Violence against women and girls, leadership development, economic empowerment of women and youth empowerment. ACFODE has a number of interventions that whose results need to be packaged for different audiences.

Description the volunteer mandate

With the changing trends in development and funding ACFODE needs to position herself so that she remains relevant and this will be made possible through support in innovative ways of capturing results and impact. there is need to come up with new techniques, tools and applications for sharing information.  Therefore, ACFODE is interested in a Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor that is agile, good with online communication and possesses innovative ways of collecting and presenting data. He/she should be willing to contribute to resource mobilization drives and advocacy campaigns of the organisation; above all he/she should be passionate about gender equality and women’s rights.

Eligibility criteria 

    •  Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada. 
    • Willing to conduct fundraising and public engagement activities before, during and after the placement 
    • Share the commitment of preventing and addressing sexual misconduct 
    • In good physical and mental health (medical examination required) 
    • The volunteer needs to bring their own computer. 
    • The volunteer must be available to attend an online pre-departure training 

Personalized support before, during and after the mandate provided by an experienced and welcoming team. The Crossroads’ experience includes the following: 

  • Daily living allowance (depending of the country of assignment)  
  • Plane ticket and local transport 
  • Pre-assignment online training.
